Common defects of castings and their causes are as follows:
1. Stomata
The causes of pore formation are excessive moisture in moulding materials or containing a large amount of gas-generating materials, poor permeability of moulding sand and core sand, and too fast pouring speed.
2. Trachoma
The causes of trachoma include insufficient strength of moulding sand, insufficient compactness of moulding sand, too fast pouring speed, etc.
3. Shrinkage
The cause of shrinkage hole is poor feeding during solidification.
4. Clay Sand
The cause of sand sticking is poor fire resistance of moulding sand or high pouring temperature.
5. Cracks
The causes of cracks are large difference in wall thickness of castings, inappropriate gating system, new concessions between sand mold and core, etc.

Brief introduction of castings:
Casting is a metal forming object obtained by various casting methods, that is, the melted liquid metal is injected into the pre-prepared casting mold by pouring, injection, inhalation or other casting methods. After cooling, grinding and other subsequent processing means, the object with certain shape, size and performance is obtained.
Casting purpose:
Castings have been widely used in hardware and the whole mechanical and electronic industry, and their use is expanding. Specific industries used include construction, hardware, equipment, construction machinery and other large machinery, machine tools, ships, aerospace, automobiles, locomotives, electronics, computers, electrical appliances, lamps and lanterns.
